Christmas Memories

All 5 of us were hit with the flu bug leading up to Christmas. 4 of us were to perform at church in our Christmas Eve, Eve service, but the flu just wouldn't give us a break! Christmas came and we were able to celebrate as a family, but my daughter and I were still not 100%. Today, we are all back to normal and feeling good. Praise the Lord!!! I hate being sick, especially during Christmas! We had a quiet Christmas just our little family of 5.

Here is a beautiful flower arrangement I received as a gift from one of my preschool classes. All the students pitched in and gave this to me along with an amazon gift card. (I was so shocked! What a thoughtful and beautiful gift!)

Happy Birthday To My Wonderful Husband

Just wanted to wish my husband, Happy Birthday!!! Yesterday we celebrated his birthday. As a tradition I always make him birthday dinner, which is always enchiladas, followed by homemade (chocolate) cake. (yum!) This year we celebrate the last of his thirties, which also reminds me I'm right behind him in age! (Yikes!)(LOL!) So you know what that means, next year he's "over the hill"!

Happy Birthday honey, I'm so blessed to call you my husband and to have you as my best friend!

In Love with Smashing!

Back in June I purchased a Smash Book for myself as a birthday present. I was so excited to find the "Pink" hard to find Smash, that I couldn't wait to start collecting memoriblia to add to it. Needless to say, my Smash book was printed backwards, meaning the back of my book was the front. I was so upset and knew at the time, that there was a shortage of Pink Smash books, so returning it wasn't going to be an option for me. I decided to take my book apart and Months later, can I just say how in "LOVE" I am with Smashing!!! I've never been one to keep a journal or diary or even have an altered book for keeping memories in except for adding them to mini's or scrapbook layouts.

I haven't gotten a ton of pages done in my Smash, but I'm in no hurry. I love how simple, carefree, and easy this concept of jotting down memories is. I can't wait to start smashing some more!

I decided to add my Smash pads to the back of my book by adding velcro to each one. This makes it handy to remove them and to have my journaling spots available and all in one place.

In Loving Memory of Pepper

It's been a rough couple of days for our family. We lost of Sweet Pepper Dog of 13 yrs. You don't truly understand the pain of losing an animal if you have never owned one. Our home feels empty without her! I'm so grateful we still have a dog to come home to. Miley our Giant schnauzer is 3 yrs. old and has begun to brighten our spirits, but it still feels different without Pepper.

Pepper was the first dog my husband and I picked out together. She was our baby prior to having kids. She showed us unconditional love and loyalty everyday!!!

Pepper was born and raised most of her life in sunny California were she came from a pure bred family of Schnauzers. Both of her parents were prize winning dog champions.

Our family moved to Colorado 5 yrs. ago and Pepper joined us on our new adventure. She experienced her first plane ride, camping in the mountains and snow!!!

Over the past few months we could see a big change in Pepper. Her energy level was declining and she seemed to sleep a lot. She just wasn't feeling well. About a year ago or so, we found out she had a heart murmur. Over time her heart started to enlarge which lead to congestive heart failure, which was starting to restrict her breathing. There just wasn't anything else the vet could do for our sweet doggie! She will forever be remembered as the sweet little doggie everyone loved!

Rest in Peace our Sweet Pepper Dog of 13 yrs. We truly feel blessed you were apart of our family. Thank you for your unconditional love and loyalty! We love you and will miss you Pepper!

My New Embellishment Center

I've been on an organizing kick lately. I find it so much easier to create when everything has a spot and my desk/room is clean. I finally decided to reorganize my scrapbook embellishments. I wanted my most used products all in one place and close to where I scrapbook. So, after watching a few youtube videos and thinking about buying a clip it up. I decided that I didn't want to spend the money for a clip it up, so the next best solution was to try what everyone else who didn't want to spend the money was using. A shoe organizer!

Since the furniture in my room is black, I wanted a black shoe organizer, which wasn't easy to find. I ended up finding my shoe organizer at my local Walmart for around $22. It's not black but it looks pretty close, it actually called oil-rubbed bronze.

So far I'm very happy with how my new embellishment center looks! I ended up only using 2 tiers instead of three. I added some chipboard decorated with some cute polk a dot paper to each of the baskets as well as some cute polk a dot ribbon around the outside of the baskets.

For just around $22 dollars I found a great solution to organizing my embellishments.

Gone too Long

Oh my goodness! I've been neglecting my blog, not by choice of course! My time has been so limit lately. I can't believe August is almost over, in away I'm looking forward to September. August is alway such a busy month for our family.

This year all three of my kids headed off to the same school. My little guy is in all day kindergarten this year, which gave me the opportunity to accept a part time position at the preschool I subbed at last year. Subbing last year was hit or miss, which really didn't disrupted our family, but after being a full time mommy for 9 yrs. and going back to work three days a week, our family is doing the best we can with this huge transition. I'm sure in a few months time everyone will be on track. Don't worry, I'm not giving up my blog or my youtube channel. I will need a creative outlet even more now! LOL! I have been able to create a few new yt videos this month among all the craziness.

I've made a goal for myself to create more 12x12 layouts. I started scrapbooking as a 12x12 scrapbooker, which over time has lead me to create mini albums, altered items, etc. I love creating and taking pictures and no matter how crazy life gets, I'll always find the time to capture our families memories!

Wizard of Oz, VBS Style

This week I'm super busy running a super fun VBS (Vocational Bible Study) for our church.

I'm one of three leaders on our church's Children's Ministry Team that consist of 10 members. This is our first year as a team running this ministry for our church. We have been planning this VBS since January, and last night was the first night of this event and WOW! It's so nice and rewarding to actually see all our hard work pay off, and on the first day!

The photo above is just a glimpse of how much fun and planning went into our VBS. Yes, you read the title right, and you are not seeing things. Our theme, is "There's no place like home" "and Heaven is our Home." a spin off of the Wizard of Oz. but told in a Biblical fashion. Super fun for the kids!!!

So you won't be seeing a lot of blogging from me this week, as I'll be giving all my time and energy to VBS this week, then I'm off to a much needed vacation without kids in San Diego!

A Special Birthday Gift for A Special Friend

Wanted to share with you a mini book I created for a friend of mine for her 40th birthday. If you have been following me for awhile, you'll remember that among my friends we have this silly tradition when one of us turns "40". We throw them a surprise birthday party, which involves a black coffin, and lots of black decorations!!! I usually create something with the photos taken the night of the party as a gift that reflects that person. In my video I share the mini I created for my friend Knoel, who just turned 40.

Okay, so I've been MIA for a long time. I've been super busy! End of school teachers projects, kids end of year parties, getting ready and finishing up planning my in-laws 50th Anniversary Party, finishing up some more projects for another party for some close friends of ours who are moving soon, hosting several get together at our house, and traveling. Oh, and I celebrated my birthday yesterday.

I have posted recently some new YT videos that I was able to pre-record and get uploaded before all the craziness. Head on over to my YT channel if you wanna watch any of them. Milk Carton Challenge

Thought I'd share a quick video. I made this cute little bird house on National Scrapbook Day. It was a challenge my friend Gina came up with. It's made from a half gallon milk carton. She challenged us to decorate the house any way we wanted, so I decided to create a bird house and a mini to go inside.

Getting Away!

I'm heading to the mountains...my bags are packed, and I'm ready to go. Just waiting on my ride.

Every year I get together with some of my closest friends for a retreat and we head to the mountains for some much needed time away. This year we are headed to Estes Park for a few days. We plan on relaxing in the hot tub, doing a little shopping, dinning out and listening to author, Patricia Sprinkle speak. This years retreat is "Dreams for Ourselves & the Kingdom".

I won't be doing any posting while I'm gone, leaving the laptop at home...gasp!!!

Say a little prayer for the hubby or maybe that should be for me...hubby has the house and three kids to tend to while I'm away. Good luck honey!!!

Sisterhood Birthday Card

I created this super cute birthday card for a very good friend of mine who just turned "40".

I just love how it turned out!

The image I used is called "Sisterhood" by Penny Black. It's one of my favorite stamps!

I decided to paper piece some of the image. I can't tell you what paper collection I used, sorry. All the papers I used came from scraps I had left over from when I posted a tutorial on "How to Paper Piece Digi Images". Of course I used my flesh colored Copics, E00, & E000, along with a few Bic Mark it's. I cut out a few frames using my Accent Essentials Cricut Cartridge, and layered them together, edged with walnut stain ink. I also added a white border punch by Martha Stewart "Daisy Fan" to the right side of my frames along with a few Prima flowers centered with a pearl brad and an Iamroses skeleton green leaf. I finished my card off with a soft green satin ribbon on the spine side of the card.

I can't remember the last time I scrapbooked a 12 x 12 layout. It's been at least a year or longer *gasp*. I started out as a 12 x 12 scrapper many, many years ago, and I have forgotten just how much I love it!

I try to keep my layouts simple, and put the focus on the photos. I don't do a ton of journaling, but I always put a date and/or date and location/event. If I feel like journaling, I'll journal on the back. Sometimes I want to tell the story for everyone to read, so I'll journal on the front page. I keep my 12 x12 pages simple and leave all the fun "out of the box creativity" for my mini books.

Card Crazy

It's been crazy around here! Along with keeping up with my everyday obligations, I've been super busy subbing preschool. Then, wham! I get sick! I'm not quite 100% yet, still dealing with an ear ache, but better than I was a few days ago. My director said I got the kid cooties! (LOL)

I was able to create a few cards before all the craziness. I am so in love with creating cards lately! Seems like forever since I actually scrapbooked something. I was inspired by these adorable digi images. I colored them in using my Bic Mark Its, and Sharpies. I did use two copic's for the skin. E000, & E00.

I'm off to rest now. Wish me luck! Praying my ear ache goes away soon!

I feel so blessed to have met Arlene through her wonderful YouTube videos. I also got to know Arlene better through a tag swap she hosted a year ago. She also, was my 500th subbie on my Youtube channel. I truly feel blessed to call her my "friend"! She is an amazing, person inside and out!!! So giving and talented and continues to inspire me with every project she shares. Be sure to check out her Youtube Channel as well as her blog. What else can I say, she's just amazing!!!

So, part of receiving this award is telling you a little about me. :) Here are "8" random little things about me, that you may not already know.

1) I am an only child, I grew up with no brothers or sisters. But I did have plenty of pets to play with! Yes, I was spoiled!

2) I married my high school sweetheart! We meet when I was 16! Oh my, time sure flies. Can't believe we will be celebrating our 17 year anniversary this August and that we have been together for 20 years!!! WOW! I can't imagine my life without him, he is my soulmate! (I love you, honey!)

3) I was born and raised in a small little town in Montana. But if you ask me I'll say I'm from California. (LOL) We lived in San Diego for 10 years after my husband graduated from college and SD became our home. Yah, I converted to a cali girl, it wasn't hard! (LOL)

4) Five years this coming April we moved a little closer to Montana. My husband was transferred with his company so now we call Denver, Co home. But if you ask me where I'm from, I'll still say California! (he-he)

5) I hate wearing socks! I love flip flops!!! But living in Colorado, you kinda have to keep your feet warm in the winter, so I buy cute socks! Who say's your socks have to be boring!

6) Out of our little family of 5, I'm the only one who doesn't play the guitar. My husband and daughter have been playing for several years now. My oldest son has been playing for two years and my little 5 yr. old just started playing. The kids all play classical guitar and my husband can play any kind of guitar you give him. Someday I dream of playing the piano that sits in our living room not a guitar!

7) I love hockey! And I love the Colorado Avalanche! I'm so excited that our city has a National Hockey Team! And one of these days I will be sitting in the front row! Go Avs!!!

8) Last random fact...I hate laundry!!! Wish I could just blink my eyes and poof it would be washed, dried, and put away!

My December Daily Mini Album

I'm so excited about capturing all my December 2010 memories! Seems like the past few years, December comes and goes in a flash, and than once again I've realized I didn't get a chance to create a mini to capture all the moments. But not this year!!! (LOL)

I sat down yesterday, pulled all my supplies and started creating. Between dinner, homework, kids bedtime, and other misc. things, I finished my December Daily Mini after midnight! I bounded it and added a few more embellishments today and it's now ready for me to start adding all the memories and photos each day!

I used the Teresa Collins "Noel" album kit to create my December Daily. This was the first time I've ever used one of her kits! A YT friend of mine "Rina" has shared with me in some RAK's some Teresa Collins papers and goodies in the past and I loved the colors and designs used on the papers and the quality is amazing! I also love the fact that I didn't have to add any paper to chipboard!!! One less step in creating!!! I absolutely am in LOVE with this mini album!!!

Coloring without Copics

Have you ever wondered if you could get the same results as coloring with Copics by using Sharpies or Bic Mark its?

I have been coloring my digi images and stamped images using Sharpies and Bic's for quite some time. I honestly only own 2 Copic markers, I own Skin White, E00 and Pale Fruit Pink, E000 and I bought them both with a gift card. I needed skin tone colors and found that the Copics looked best when it came to coloring pale white skin.

I love the way Copics color and how easy they are to use and blend together. I would love to own every color of Copics but realistically for me, I just can't justify the cost. I'm sure over time I'll add a few more colors of Copics to my lonely two, but for now, there are way too many other craft supplies I'd rather spend my money on.

I created this super cute Christmas Mouse gift tag using Sharpies and Bic Mark its.

I cut and pasted my Christmas Mouse image into Word, then I resized the image to the size I wanted and printed it out onto white 110 lb. card stock.

Altered Scrappy Frames

I was inspired by a friend on youtube who shared an altered frame she created. I found these unfinished frames at my local Hobby Lobby and couldn't wait to get home and alter them.

I created these frames to be auctioned at my local church. I wanted to contribute to a wonderful cause of raising money, to help church members visit a missionary family from our church, that moved to Uganda.

Shawn and Primrose had a dream of building an orphanage to help children get off the streets of Uganda. With the help of so many, their dream has finally come true!

I personally know Shawn and Primrose and feel so blessed to have gotten the chance to see the passion they have for children in Uganda. I just read an email today forward to me, that a 10 month old baby was found on the streets by the authorities which they placed this baby in the orphanage that was just built and supported by my church and many others!

With that all said, I am so proud to to donate these Altered Frames. I know the money that will be made from these frames will go to such a wonderful mission!

Halloween photo share

Halloween was such a blast this year! And the kids didn't even have to trick or treat in SNOW! The weather was absolutely gorgeous which made for a fantastic Halloween!

My week went a little like this.

Monday: A blur!
Tuesday: Nana and Papa came to visit from Montana.
Wednesday: Spent some quality family time with the grandparents and carved pumpkins together and hung out.
Thursday: Grandparents left, and I prepared some snacks for my son's preschool party on Friday.
Friday: Halloween started a few days earlier for me as I shuffled myself to all three of my kiddos Halloween school parties. Then off to the grocery store to prepare for our neighborhood party.
Saturday: Soccer game! Our son started the game out by making the first goal of the game! Way to Go EP!!!
Sunday: "Halloween night" Had our yearly Halloween neighborhood party. We invite a few friends over for dinner, hang out, then go trick or treating together as a group. Our kids love it! We usually spend two hours walking around the neighborhood with the kids, and that's only a few blocks! As usual we visited our neighborhood Haunted house, which never disappoints and gets better each year! All in all we had a great Halloween. Can't wait for next year to do it all over again! (LOL)

It's a Fish Mini

I decided I'd share a few pix of the fish mini I created for a birthday present for a friend. If you follow me on my youtube I showed a quick look at this mini in my most recent vid. I was super surprised at the sweet comments everyone left about his mini. It's totally a subject I don't normally scrap!!! I felt like a fish out of water when I was creating the covers for this mini! (LOL) I had planned on giving it to my friend this past weekend, but I had too much going on. So, he'll be getting it this weekend. Sure hope he likes it, as he eats, sleep, and breaths fishing!

Busy, Banner and Cards

Seems like forever since I've lasted blogged! Life has just been super busy. I'm back to work for the first time in 9 years! I'm subbing at a preschool and I'm loving it! In Sept. and this month so far, I've been called in a lot to teach. My director said I was more like her full-time employee! I feel blessed I can still for the most part still be a stay at home mom, but at the same time I feel grateful to be working when needed.

My kiddo's have been keeping me super busy as well. More busy than ever before!!! My oldest son is playing soccer which meant two practices a week with games on Saturdays. My daughter has been taking a rock climbing class which for the past month was every thursday evening, and my little guy had karate on Saturday mornings. With a few more activities mixed in and working, well...you can see how my life has been super busy. Oh, and did I mention homework!

I did sneak some time in to create a few projects. I created a "FALL" banner to hang in our familyroom. Which I kept really simple. I think it turned out super cute and it looks great with all my fall home decor.

I also was asked to teach a card class at our church. The Ladies Ministry put on this class for ladies to learn how to create handmade cards. I created three different cards, which I felt were very simple but yet had various product used and techniques. I had a great time teaching and the best part was all the cards created were donated to the church card ministry.

I also created a mini book for a friend as a birthday gift. (sorry no pix) It's pretty fishy! It's a mini book in the shape of a fish.

Anyway, that is what I've been doing! I'm now gearing up for Halloween! School parties, our neighborhood Halloween party and some family coming into town. I'm hoping to be able to find some more time to create a few more projects before the month is over!

This was my first time making a Barbie cake, and I think it turned out pretty good. What do you think?
I prefer to cook than to bake, but I really wanted to create a special cake for her, something she would remember and cherish.

Today our Sweet Princess "Em" turns "9"!

Can't believe she is 9 already, seems just like yesterday when we were bringing her home from the hospital.

We Celebrated with a surprise visit to the new American Girl Store. "Em" was so excited she was floating on cloud "9"! She has been patiently waiting to visit The American Girl Store since they opened a few months ago.

Samantha an American Girl doll "Em" already had came along for our birthday surprise.

"Kaya" came home with us as a new member of our family! Now Em and Samantha have a new friend to play with!

After having a great time shopping and experiencing the American girl Store. We headed over to The White Chocolate Grill for lunch and Birthday dessert.

It's our Anniversary!

Today my husband and I celebrate "16" amazing years together!!! I truly feel blessed to have found a wonderful man in my life. He's not only my husband, he's my bestfriend and soulmate! I took this picture of our shadows last year on a trip to Kauai, where we celebrated our 15 yr. anniversary.
(we celebrate 16 yrs. tomorrow, Aug. 6th)

We took a car ride to see the amazing Waima Canyon. It was sprinkling on and off and as we left the Canyon, we saw an amazing rainbow, so we stopped to check it out and of course I wanted to gets some pictures. It was the largest rainbow I've ever seen.
I noticed as we were gazing at the rainbow how our shadows were being reflected on the red dirt, and as a result this is the photo of our shadows. I absolutely love this picture!!!

So, I had to share a picture of the rainbow, just so you could see a peek at just how amazing it was. This picture is just showing a portion of the left side of the rainbow. It truly was the largest rainbow I have ever seen!

My new Favorite TOOL

A week ago, I saw a demo of the i-rock at my local Archivers, and saw how easy this tool made putting bling onto paper. No need for glue or wondering how to attach the smallest of gems to any projects. The problem was, they had completely sold out. This tool is so "HOT" that I found it hard to even find online. Seems everyone has discovered how wonderful this tool is and it's in high demand.

This week I noticed my local Joanns was advertising a tool by Tulip called the "Glam-It-Up" cordless crystal & stud heat-setting tool. I couldn't believe my eyes!!! It looked exactly like the i-rock, even the same color! And it was 25% off which made it around $10.

I ended up buying the Glam-It-Up at Joanns along with a pack of Glam-It-Up glass crystals in multi colors. (you get 300 crystals)

This heat-setting tool is my new Fave when it comes to craft tools!!! It's so easy to use and it takes seconds to adhere crystal gems to anything. I highly recommend this if you are in the market for the i-rock and find it sold out or on back order.

Along with my new love for the Glam-it-up, I'm hooked on Sarah Kay and Precious Moments images. I love, love, love how adorable these images are, and how much fun they are to color and make cards out of.

Here are a few card I've been working on the past couple days. I can't wait to send these off to some very special people back in Montana. And yes, I used my New Glam-It-Up to add gems to each of these cards. With my new tool I was able to adhere gems to ribbon, lace, and paper.

Helping out a You Tube Friend

I know I've been MIA! Thanks for being so patient and still following me. I so badly want to share what I've been up to this summer, and I will but first I need to share this story.

My heart is breaking for a You Tube Scrapper,66msClaudia. Claudia suddenly lost her husband due to an illness and is left to raise 6 children on her own. To help her family financially, Claudia has sold a large portion of her scrap supplies and continues to sell items daily to earn money.

Claudia is an amazing scrapbooker. She is giving up so many things we as scrappers use to create pages/mini books with to put her family first. I pray when the time is right and God gives her the strength, that she will continue creating memories to pass on to her children.

Jade another You Tube Friend has a fundraiser going on to collect money for Claudia. She is collecting 10 handmade cards from whoever wants to help out. She will be doing a fundraiser buy selling them on her blog. The cards will be sold as a variety set and all funds raised will go to Claudia.

I wanted to create a FuN, Whimsy card, so I thought, why not SoCk MoNkEY's.

Thought I'd share a couple tags I made for two special ladies.
I love creating tags and sending them along in the mail with my swap stuff. I appreciate all the hard work that goes into organizing swap trades and putting together kits to trade. This is just my way of saying Thank You!

This tags was created for Arlene. I glimmer misted the background in a few different shades of pink. Distressed the edges. Added a TH stamp that I distressed. Finished it off with a handmade vintage lace lollipop flower I made (and sell in my Etsy), some feathers, prima roses & pearls and a cute charm.

This tag was created for my May swap partner at the beach, Rosie. I glimmer misted the background with some homemade GM in shades of purple I also sprayed it with Old Lace GM. I printed off two images from the web and inked and distressed one, and cut out the dancer. I added diamond dust to her beautiful dress. I then finished it off with an assortment of satin and prima flowers trimmed with lace, and a charm.

A Poem for me

Hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day. I wanted to share a Poem my daughter wrote about me and presented it to me in front of her class for Mother's Day.

I love You

My mom is sweet
I love her.
She is like the flowers
I love my mommy
so much so much

She was so excited to share her sweet poem about me.

I also got a ton of handmade goodies for Mother's Day, including photo cards and a photo pot holder. Hmmm...I see future scrapbookers! It must run in our blood! he-he!

I feel so blessed and loved by my three little kiddos!

MIA and an Update

Long time no blogging!!!
I've been MIA for awhile, but I can explain. Really I can!!!

In-laws came to visit, than left.
I got super duper sick, which I'm still sick, but not as bad.
Went out of town while I was sick, to a retreat. Came home still sick.
Wrapping up end of the year school stuff. (where did the year go?)
Finishing up swaps and trades.
Creating and re-stocking my Etsy shop.
Did I mention I'm still sick!!!

4. I sing soprano on my church praise team every month.

5. My husband and I lived in Moscow, Russian in 1997. I studied and learned to speak Russian while we where there. I can still speak a little bit, but not much, mainly phrases like "warning the subway doors are closing, next stop then the name of the next stop." Funny what you remember!

6. I drive a HuGe SUV, and I love it!!! After our family van was hit from behind by a driver going 60, I told my husband I wanted to drive a tank! I feel so much safer now!!! A day of Blessings and Thankfullness

7. True fact: I have my left ear pierced "8" times, and my right ear "2". But, I only wear one set of earrings. Yes, this was one of those crazy things I did as a teen!

8. I loooove Idaho Spud candy bars! The only problem is, you can only find them in Idaho! Oh, how I'd love to have one now!

9. I'll be the first one to admit it, I love eighties movies. (Sixteen Candles, Breakfast Club, etc.)

Imagine Tag

Thought I'd share this Tag I made for a friend in England.

I stamped the image in Timber brown, colored and shaded it in. Did some painting in the background with glimmer mist, and pearl ex. Embossed around the tag with distressed embossing powder and added clear glass micro beads to the corners of the tag. I finished it off by adding some prima flowers centered with bling, fibers, and a imagine charm.

I just love how the distressed embossing powder and the micro beads make it look like sand around the tag!

I created this mini page album and tag for a special family who has lost a child.
Sarah, a friend on YouTube put out a request for help to create pages for a mini book she was putting together for the Thompson family.

Somer's story touched me very deeply as a mother of three. I feel honored to have been able to take part in this mini book.

Somer's favorite color was purple, so I used purple as my accent color on both my pages and my tag.

On the back of my tag I wrote a poem for Somer's mom and this is what is says.

"Memories of You & Me" mini

About a week ago I recieved a RAK (random act of Kindness) from my friend Rina. She is known as scrapstress on YouTube.

I was in awe that she had sent me some Teresa Collins papers! I have never owned nor seen her papers before I heard Rina talk about how much she loved all her products and that TC was her fave!

I was in love with these papers and wanted to make a special album using them, but didn't want to choose which side of the papers to use, since they are double sided. I decided to create a mini using Acrylic.

I have never made an acrylic album before but have always wanted to. Using the acrylic gave me the look I wanted, I was able to see both sides of the paper. I kept this album very simple and clean, and I absolutely love the end result.

This is by far one of my most favorite mini's I've created.

My February Tag

Last month I participated in a Tag swap hosted by Arlene for the month of February.

The theme was Vintage, Valentine, and Distressed. I had so much fun creating my tags since I love the look of vintage and who doesn't love Valentine's Day. (Red, Pink, Hearts)

I swapped with 10 other creative ladies, which meant I created 11 of my Tags, and I'll be getting 10 different tags back.

I'm excited to be swapping tags again for the month of March. The theme this month is Asian, Spring, Flowers, and green. I can't wait to get started!

Sneak Peak - Valentines Kit Swap

This is a quick sneak peak at a kit I put together for a swap kit I'm participating in over at the beach.

My swap partner requested a Valentines Kit. She is a young teen who has just started scrapbooking. I love how this wonderful craft can be enjoyed by so many different ages. I hope in some small way I can inspire her to keep creating!

Cute, Vintage and Etsy

I love all types of paper crafts including card making. I can't remember the last time I actually bought a store bought card.
I just love how both of these cards turned out. One is more on the cute side and the other is very vintage.

On this card I used two Basic Grey stamp sets I enlarged on my copier. I used a Studio G sentiment "Love Muffin"
Faded Jeans-distress ink for the sky, patterned paper and vintage lace for the grass. I added a Prima heart to the little girl and wiggle eyes.

I made this card for a friend I had as a secret sister at church. I love the vintage Christian image. I printed it off on photo paper, added distress inks: Faded Jeans, & Antique Line. Distressed the edges, stamped a boarder stamp by Martha Stewart, added frosted Prima Flowers, bling and ribbon. I also stamped the base of the card with a Hero Arts background stamp, before adding the mat and my image.

Besides, making cards and working on my tags for a tag swap I'm doing in February. I updated and added some new items to my etsy shop and did some price reductions on some of the items I already had in my shop. Be sure to check it out. www.scrapofmine.etsy.com

Sick and Stamps (not sick of stamps - LOL!)

Haven't been feeling well the past couple of days! I ended up at the doctors with a reoccurring sinus infection from Christmas time. YUCK!!! I hate being sick and I hate not being able to create. Today I'm finally able to get out of bed and not feel so blah!!!
Before I got sick I had been working on reorganizing my craft room. If you know me personally, you know how I love organization. Well, I wasn't liking what I was seeing in my scrap room, as far as how I had my craft items stored. I have collected new items and items from Christmas and I really hadn't found a new home for them, which was cluttering up my craft room.
I ended up reorganizing everything! I decided to just completely go for it and reorganize all my scrap supplies and just keep the items I truly love and that make me happy! I emptied out all my Making Memories storage jars and filled them with all my Prima flowers and ribbons. I just LOVE Prima! Who doesn't! I wanted to surround myself with only the items I always reach for such as my Glimmer Mists, Prima's, Bling, and my clear stamps.
About a year ago I organized all my clear and rubber mounted stamps into CD cases which I love. I noticed I had a collection of Studio G and Recollection wood stamps hanging out in my craft room taking up tons of space. I finally bit the bullet and spent about two hours demounting the rubber stamps and putting them into CD cases along with some of my new clear stamps. Wow! It's just amazing how much space wood mounted stamps take up, especially after I see the end result. Of course I'm not done organizing my scrap room yet, because I got sick, but I love how how it is looking and how I feel when I come into my craft room.
As soon as I feel 100% and I get my room back together, I plan on doing some videos on how I organize some of my scrap supplies. I hope by what I will share, I will make organizing your scrap supplies painless and fun!

Mariposa Collection

I am floating on cloud 9! I finally found the Mariposa Paper collection from DCWV! It seems that Joann's is the only store carrying this collection and you can't even order it online. I have made several trip to my local Joann's since I first saw an add in my Feb. issue of CK magazine. I had no luck finding it trip after trip. Finally, I called a different Joann's in a different town, not too far away, and they had it! I rushed down and 40 minutes later The Mariposa collection was mine!!!! Yes, you could say I'm a little obsessed with this paper!!!! But it was so worth it and the drive! I love it! Here are a few pictures of just how beautiful the papers are.

It's time to start thinking about Valentines Day, already! Can't believe how fast the holidays sneak up, wasn't it just Christmas? I wanted to share this simple scrapbook page I made of my daughter years ago. Back in the day, I didn't have a lot of time to spend on my layouts, nor do I still! I love being creative and trying new techniques, such as those you see in my mini's, but I also love keeping things simple!

I'm finishing up a ballet mini of my daughter, then full steam ahead, Valentines Mini here I come!

Here are all the supplies I picked up to make my Valentines mini, some 12x12 layouts, cards, & teacher gifts. I just love all the pink and red!!!

A Quick Holiday Mini

This mini was a Christmas gift I made for a close friend. I left it super simple, didn't add a lot of bling or embellies. I added a lot of tags for photo's and journaling to each of the pockets. A Day of Blessings and Thankfulness!!!

This will probably be one of the hardest blogs for me to write about. A year ago today,(1/2) around 4pm (mountain time) our family of five was out going to do a bit of shopping. We were stopped at a stop light on a two lane highway, about 10 minutes from our home. I clearly remember every detail, as if it had just happened. We were the fourth car in line at the red stop light and I can still hear my husband say "oh no" as our honda Odyssey van was hit from behind and we than were pushed into the truck in front of us. It still feels so surreal to me! I can still hear the crashing of metal and the smell of burnt tires and the cracking of glass! As any parent would do, I jumped from the front seat to the third row to rescue our daughter. She was sitting in the third row on the driver side, I can still picture her sitting there with the whole back window gone and the scared look of shock on her face! As I reached the third row I could see smoke, hear the grinding of metal and that's when I went into shock. The impact was so horrific! As I grabbed my daughter from her carseat, I noticed our entire trunk was missing and all that I could see was the back of the seat where my daughter was sitting! The boys were safely sitting in the middle row and seemed to be fine, but confused as to what had just happened. I quickly returned to my seat with my daughter and called my good friend to let her know what had happened, just as I noticed my phone was about to run out of battery, I also made one last call to our good friend and minister. My husband who was in the drivers seat was doing his best to move our van off to the side of the road where we would be safer. The man whom we were pushed into and the man driving the car in front of him, jumped out of their cars and ran over to check on us and called 911. The next thing I remember is this small young lady running up to our van opening the passenger side door and jumping in. She was asking a lot of question about how we felt and checking our necks and reminding me to stay still and not move. She said her name was Lauren and she was a midwife. She reached down and picked up one of my kids toddler Bibles on the floor and began singing Jesus love the little Children. She was doing her best in one of the worse situations to keep my kids calm as well as me. My daughter who was sitting on me began to complain of pain in her knee, which had worried me since she had surgery a few months before hand. As we waited inside our car for help to arrive, the driver of the other car finally made his way over to our van. He had been bleeding and most likely was a little out of it from the impact and the impact of his airbag. A short while later a nurse also showed up at the accident scene as she was passing by on the highway.
It's seemed like eternity before the ambulance and the fire department showed up. While waiting for help to arrive, the pain in my neck finally kicked in! Wow, I was hurting! When the crash happened I wasn't sitting straight forward looking out the front window, I was turn to the side toward the back looking at the kids. I distinctly remember being tossed back and forth multiple times. My daughter and I were taken to the ER where our minister/friend was already waiting for us. I was so thankful he was there as my husband and boys stayed behind. A few hours later my husband showed up to get checked out, and boy, was I glad to see him. While in the hospital, we had found out that, the man who hit us at 60mph never once stepped on his brakes,as he was playing with the radio. We also learned he was driving without a license and had no insurance. Did I mention he was also an illegal citizen.
Today I share this story with you to remind you to cherish those you love! Don't sweat the small stuff, for tomorrow may never come. Cherish each and everyday! We feel incredibly thankful each and every day! I know God has a plan for our family and that Angels were watching over us that day and always! Though it's been a year, I am reminded daily of what could have been. I can live with the migraines and the whiplash pain knowing how blessed we are to have each other! I'm still healing emotionally from this, and yes this was very hard to write about and to look at the pictures again, but I just wanted to remind you to cherish those close to you! May you wake each day, and feel blessed by those around you!

Christmas Memories

It's hard to believe Christmas has come and gone! Hope you all had a wonderful, memorable holiday with family and friends. We had a quite Christmas with just our little family of five. It snowed on Wednesday (12/23) and kept on snowing, so we did have a White Christmas. It was nice to look out the window and see fluffy white snow on Christmas, it's the only time of year I love to see snow!

It was so fun to watch the kids and Ty keep track of where Santa was. They would check the computer about every 45/1hour just to see where Santa had landed. Loved seeing the expressions on my kids faces as daddy clicked on different areas around the world to see if Santa had visited there. They were so excited they couldn't wait for santa to come to our house, but that meant going to bed.

Christmas morning we all were up early as the kids were ready to open gifts from Santa and see what they got in their stockings! After stocking and gifts were opened, off to the kitchen to enjoy my homemade cinnamon rolls.

As a tradition in our house on Christmas morning, we have cinnamon rolls and the kids get to drink hot chocolate with marshmallows. (coffee for me and Ty) They love being able to drink hot coco for breakfast, it's such a special treat for them.

All in all, we had a peaceful, relaxing Christmas and look forward to the New Year!

Santa Share

I'm so excited about our Santa photo's this year!!! Our little guy finally sat on Santa's lap!!! Yeah! He was so excited to see Santa, and mommy was so excited to finally get a picture of him with santa. I can't wait to add our new photo's in my Santa hat mini album.

I'm finally done Christmas shopping!!! The grandparents gifts have been sent, the cookies have been baked, the kids are out for holiday break and I'm looking forward to scrapping again! But first I have to wrap all the gifts and finish up the grandparents 2010 calendars, then I can scrap!!!

I couldn't believe my eyes when I found these stamp today! I purchased all of these stamps for only $5! I am still so excited about this amazing find! The stamps are by inkadinkado and they originally retail for $7.99 each. I paid .99 cents for each one at Tuesday Morning! That's a $35 savings!!! I am extremely excited about the vintage ladies with the camera that say's "smiling right back at you". I can't wait to use it on a scrapbook page.

Confessions of a Messy Scrapper!

My name is Leslie and I make a mess when I scrapbook!

I've been busy the past few days putting together a birthday gift for a good friend. She doesn't know this, but she is getting a completed mini with photos from her birthday party. (unless she is reading this now)

We celebrated her 40th birthday the night before Halloween and had such a blast with all our wonderful friends. She had no clue our "costume party" was actually her surprise 40th RIP Party. Yes, you read that right. My friends have this tradition of throwing these fun 40th surprise parties and including a RIP coffin. This mini coffin gets passed around from friend to friend. Everyone who gets it has wrote their name in it as well as added an item to represent growing old.

As you can see from my photo, it can get a little messy in my scrap room when I'm working on a project. But it's all for a good cause! LOL!! I usually get to a point when I have to stop and clean up before I can start creating again. That picture was taken right before I decided it was time to clean!

I'll be posting pictures of the RIP album as soon as I get it finished, so make sure to check back soon.
